What is tongue drum?

A tongue drum is a percussion instrument that typically consists of a hollowed-out cylindrical or rectangular shape with tongues or keys that are cut or carved into the surface. It is struck with mallets or hands to produce musical notes. Tongue drums are usually made of wood, metal, or synthetic materials. They are a popular instrument for meditation, yoga, and other therapeutic practices. Tongue drums can have a range of notes from five to over a dozen and can be tuned to different scales, such as pentatonic or diatonic. Some tongue drums are also equipped with amplification to produce a louder sound.
